Plane Passengers Shocked by What They Hear While Landing: ‘Fever Dream’

A video capturing an unusual moment on a flight when passengers were played “loud and disorienting” music has gone viral on TikTok.
The clip, shared by user Kaylee to the account @kaypatthana, shows two women laughing hysterically while the energetic piano melody plays over the plane’s speakers.
Text overlaid on the video reads: “It’s 12am and your flight just landed and this is the music the airline decided to play while everyone is waking up & waiting to get off the plane.”
In the caption, Kaylee wrote: “It was so loud and disorienting after waking up I almost peed my pants laughing. Everyone was so confused.”
Newsweek has contacted the original poster for comment via TikTok. The video has not been independently verified.
The footage has racked up over 553,000 views since it was first posted on July 22, with TikTok users weighing in on the strange in-flight experience. It was filmed on a United Airlines flight, according to a hashtag shared with the post.
The viral post comes as air travel continues to see strong growth in the post-COVID-19 pandemic era.
In an October report from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), total passenger demand in August was reported to be up 8.6 percent, compared with the same month last year.
Travel is forecast to hit “record highs” this year, with global tourism spending projected to reach U.S. $2 trillion, according to a December 2023 survey by market research firm Euromonitor International.
In a follow-up comment, Kaylee clarified that the music itself wasn’t the issue.
“The music itself wasn’t the problem it’s the fact we just woke up and they were BLASTING it from the speakers and it felt like a fever dream lol,” the poster said.
“I think the volume is really what sent us. Would’ve been soothing to hear it on a quieter setting LOL,” Kaylee added in another comment.
Many TikTok users expressed how surreal the experience seemed.
One, Dr Mrs Waffles, posted: “The way I would be convinced I was lucid dreaming.”
@zyla.janine was equally startled and said, “that first one would send me into psychosis.” Oliver said, “The way I’d dissociate into hell and beyond.”
Others appreciated the classical number, with Melissa Yankacy calling it “a masterpiece,” and Nick saying “It’s a classic!!”
Laura posted: “This is my favorite song of all time waking up to this would be a DREAM COME TRUEEE.”
